Frequently asked questions

Why beeswax and why these prices?

I use 100% pure beeswax because it’s biodegradable, the cleanest and most natural candle waxes out there. It’s made by bees (not in a factory), smells gently of honey without added fragrance, burns longer than other waxes, and even helps clean the air by releasing negative ions. No fillers, no chemicals.

My candles cost more than mass-produced ones because they’re made with premium ingredients, poured by hand in small batches, and sourced from beekeepers who care for their hives and the planet. You’re not just buying a candle — you’re supporting sustainable beekeeping, ethical labor, and slow, thoughtful craftsmanship that respects the Earth and the people making it.

Do you accept returns and exchanges?

Because candles are handmade and can’t be resold once used or unwrapped, I don’t accept returns or exchanges. If your candle arrives damaged, send me a message with photos within 7 days of delivery and I’ll happily replace or refund it.

What do I do with left over beeswax after the candle is done?

1. Composting:
Beeswax can go into a hot compost pile.
Cut or break the leftover candle into small pieces to help microbes decompose it faster.

Avoid adding wicks with metal cores—remove them first. Cotton wicks are fine.

2. Burying:
You can bury beeswax in soil, ideally in a garden or under leaf mulch.
It may take months to years to fully break down, but it’s safe for the soil.

3. Reuse/Re-melt:

Another eco-friendly option: re-melt leftover wax to make new candles or wax wraps.
This avoids any waste altogether.

Tell me about sustainability & biodegradability of different waxes!

Beeswax: Beeswax is naturally biodegradable and non-toxic. Pure beeswax can go back into the earth safely. However, the sustainability depends on how it’s sourced. If the bees are healthy and managed ethically, beeswax itself is a fairly eco-friendly material.

Soy wax: Soy wax is made from soybeans, which are renewable and generally biodegradable. But conventional soy farming can involve deforestation, pesticides, and monoculture practices, so the sustainability depends on whether it’s organic and ethically sourced.

Paraffin wax: Made from petroleum, not biodegradable, and not environmentally friendly.

What is the impact of beeswax farming on living beings?

Ethical beekeeping aims to support the hive and only harvest excess wax and honey. If done responsibly, bees aren’t killed or severely harmed.

Industrial or large-scale beekeeping can sometimes stress bees, use chemicals, or disrupt natural behaviors, which can harm the colony.
