Slowing Things Down
As we all know, the pandemic caused life to come to a screeching halt. For us, we had 4 kids under 5 and life was BUSY. The pandemic was hard, but looking back, it allowed us time to slow things down - one of those things being the chance to bake more. Some of you may remember, commercial yeast was hard to come by during the pandemic, so along with hundreds of other bakers, I turned to sourdough! As with any new thing, came with a learning curve, but I quickly came to realize how therapeutic it was to intentionally slow down during such a busy season. To my surprise, after some trial and error, I also noticed how quickly it became second nature when baking. Our life now is even busier than before, but one thing I love about sourdough - other than the amazing health benefits - is that it is so hearty and versatile, I can bake with it daily, or I can take a long pause when I know our week is just too jam-packed. I make it fit into MY schedule - believe me, if I can do it, so can you :) It's simple enough that any of my, now 5, kids can help and have fun with. It gives me a chance during a hectic week to intentionally slow down, and truly enjoy the process.
Our family has benefitted so much from sourdough, and we've enjoyed blessing friends and family with delicious baked goods. My hope with this shop is that I can offer other busy bakers a chance to slow down, enjoy the process, and open your eyes to just how simple sourdough truly is! Sourdough baking is a labour of love, but 100% worth it. I am so excited to help you start your journey :)
