Shop Renovations!
Hey Folks! Some of you may be long time shoppers here, and others new. I had previously been focusing on handmade herbal products, toys, and clothes; making small batches and custom orders. In the past few years I’ve shifted my focus from outdoor learning, healing, and play to birthwork. Since then, most of my time has gone into serving my clients, but I’ve found some time here and there to make art. I hope you enjoy it!
Why the Wandering Womb you say? Women’s health has a pretty dark history; with a legacy of people having their choices taken away and their complaints disregarded as feminine weakness. For many years, doctors diagnosed many complaints of a ‘female’ nature as hysteria, and this blanket diagnoses allowed for many atrocities to be committed against these patients. One of the so called causes of hysteria was thought to be a wandering womb, displaced in the body and causing chaos to that person’s disposition. So, I’ve decided to reclaim the term as a birth worker. And anyway, wouldn’t it make a great band or saloon name? The way I see it, my job is all about helping birthing people reclaim their autonomy and maintain the availability of their choices, so why not do it with a wandering womb?
Anyway, we’re still living in WV, here in the woods and trying to grow things around us. I’m inspired everyday by what I see in the forest and what I see on my travels to serve the birthing families of this state.
