Always making something!
I’ve always made things. From wooden swords and treehouses as a kid to the metal, wood, leather, ceramic, and textile work I’ve done since. For me, being a craftsman is largely about making the things I want and need.
I love the moment when a new idea becomes a material reality. Taking an idea and following it through, past all the hurdles of design and production to create something useful and beautiful.
If there’s something I want, I’m always more satisfied if I make it.
The name of my shop comes from both the inspiration I get from my twin sons, Ari and Leo, and the influence my Dad’s had on my life and career.
I first started to sell crafts here and there as a teenager but my real leap into professional crafts was when I was twenty. I partnered with my Dad In designing and launching a new line of shoes that he’d been working to develop since before I was born. http://www.babushoe.com/
One of my greatest joys is that I get to work at home, spending time with my wonderful family who support me in my work every day.
What I hope people will get out of my work is the daily satisfaction you get from using something handmade with attention and pride.
You can find more photos of my products at http://www.flickr.com/photos/babushoes/
And in person at the Eugene Saturday market, Holiday Market and the Oregon Country fair.
