My name is Yejide and I am the designer and creator of this unique ensemble of products. The moniker, BALANCE is in honor of my mother who is a fine artist, writer and a a Libra and my father who was a great provider, artist and Taurus. As a couple, they were BALANCE! They've always encouraged and cultivated my creativity and nurtured my expansive yearning for knowledge in the fine, culinary and performing arts.

This collection is a labor of love! Creating with my hands is not only relaxing but therapeutic. To beautify the public is just an added joy! I chose to develop and uplift the spiritual (internal) beauty with these physical (external) adornments. I purposely use different shapes, colors, textures, materials and my imagination to design these items for all to wear and use, proudly! BALANCE is Bold, Aesthetic, Love-based, Ancestral, Non-conforming, Colorful & Eclectic! Not to mention, original, healthy and organic!

BALANCE facial & body scrubs, hair pomades, hair conditioners and face & body butters are made with raw cocoa, aloe, mango, kokum & shea butters, fresh aloe vera, doTERRA essential oils, natural carrier oils & homegrown or wildcrafted herbs & flowers. Products are all plant based and packaged in biodegradable, sustainable, recycled materials, compliments of EcoEnclose.

The definition of Balance is 'mental & emotional stability; bodily poise; figuratively, the scale by which deeds & principles are weighed and destinies determined...' The mantra...

The item leaked out of the jar even though it was taped at the top. When it arrived in the envelope, the envelope on the outside had changed colors and my roommate didn’t want to open the package. Next time be careful of how the heat in AZ my affect the item.

The quality of the salt scrub is amazing! I ordered this for a friends birthday party, and needed it sooner then the estimated arrival date, I reached out to them asking if it'd be possible to get it here on time, they replied promptly and got it shipped so that it arrived on time, a sample was included, which I was grateful for! I could try the scrub myself before giving it to my friend!

Beautifully Accentuates Love And Nurtures Creative Energy

My 'shop' started in 1994, when I created about 7 pieces of jewelry and I found that all the pieces I made were purchased by my friends and family. They loved the items I hand-crafted and I really enjoyed creating them.

This labor of love developed while I was the Director of the International African Islamic Ballet, from 1990 until 1992. We performed twice at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for the Ascension of NANA OPARE DINIZULU and DANCE AFRICA in 1991. I choreographed a few pieces, danced on stage and sold merchandise, afterwards. The colors and textures of the various African dance troupes' costumes, layered with the rich cultural history of the Motherland, were breathtaking! The shapes and poly-chromatic intensity of every piece of clothing, every statue and mask and all of the handmade jewelry I saw was inspiring and so incredible!

I used to sell jewelry, educational books and literature, incense, hair products, crowns, soaps and oils outside of Unique Boutique on Broadway in Greenwich Village for the African Islamic Mission, so my vending skills were honed by the time I created my baby, BALANCE!

Many people make jewelry but I put love and caring into each piece I craft. The body products I create are all natural using organic and wholesome herbs, spices, oils, fruits and vegetables and I love to create new combinations of flavors. My style is eccentric, deliberate, earthy, African, raw, regal, innovative, highly spirited and full of character. Each jewelry piece is named and has a story of it's own. Once purchased, it's up to YOU to continue YOUR story...
