Hey, I’m Hannah!
When I was young, my mom made me a bag out of my old ripped jeans. I was fascinated by the fact that something useless had been turned into something incredibly useful (and kinda cute).
Then in high school, I developed an err.. obsession with vintage Coach purses (especially when I spotted them for $10 at Goodwill because they didn't know what they had). My appreciation for a well-made item only grew with my collection.
So when the opportunity arose a few years ago to dive in and help out a local leather shop, something clicked. As I sat there sewing the kind of leather bags that could be passed down along generations (and perhaps one day sought out at the local thrift store), I felt like I had found my calling. I felt so inspired by creating pieces that I knew would last a lifetime.
Now, as I transition into fabric, I’ve found myself preferring to use natural materials, repurpose forgotten textiles, and learn about where fiber even comes from.
I resonate deeply with the Fibershed project and participate actively in the Rustbelt chapter - working to keep fiber and textile production circular and hyper local (within 250 miles of Cleveland, OH). Oh, and I’m currently growing a plot of flax to process, spin, and weave into linen this fall. Wish me luck!
