Our wallets are made from premium, full grain natural vegetable tanned leather.
These compact wallets contain six leather-lined vertical card slots as well as two hidden side pockets.
With use, our natural vegetable tanned leather wallets will become softer and develop their own unique patina and character. We have started each wallet on this journey by lightly oiling and “sun tanning” the leather before applying a final finish.

Why do we use vegetable tanned leather?

Put simply, because it’s the best there is.
The majority of leather used today is known as Chrome (Chromium) tanned leather. This is relatively cheap and quick to produce and comes in lots of colours and finishes. The downside is that it uses some fairly toxic chemicals to produce and while it looks great new, it doesn’t always age very well.
By contrast Vegetable tanned leather is produced by a centuries old tradition of using tree bark and other natural vegetable matter to convert the animal hide into leather.
Not only is this process is more environmentally friendly it produces a top quality, durable leather.
As well as being strong and long lasting, a unique characteristic of this leather is that it improves with age, developing a rich patina.

It is important to note that Vegetable tanned leather is NOT Vegan leather.

Excellent communication from seller. Item arrived very quickly and well packed. I was very pleasantly surprised initially at the colour of the item and then at a closer inspection the overall quality and craftsmanship. The smell of the leather was also fantastic.
