Hand Knitted By Scottish Knitwear - The knitter of the original Dunbonnet for the Major TV show "Outlander"

This Hat is currently called a "Tam" but in the 18th Century was known as a "Scots Bonnet" (as in Sir Walter Scot's song, "All The Blue Bonnets are Over The Border,") Blue being worn by the fighting men
It was such a common garment that it became a symbol of the Scots, particularly Scottish Highlanders

Knitted in Shetland Wool in the colours of the hills and bracken of the Highlands of Scotland, a blend of brown, green and gold - this was a form of camouflage so the wearer was well hidden from the game he was hunting or the Red Coats who were hunting him!

Blue and Grey were worn by the Highland warriors
The Shetland Yarn is the exact same as worn by the character, Jamie Fraser in Outlander

The bonnet measures 11" (28 cms) wide and 11" (28 cms) long measuring over and down the outer circumference and fits the average head circumference of 22" to 24" (56 - 61 cms) and is suitable when knitted in one of the bonnie, bright colours available, can be worn by either gender as a beret.

This bonnet has been felted and is pure wool so hand washing only is recommended using warm, soapy water, then rinsing in warm, clear water, dry flat, patting into shape If your bonnet just needs freshening up, hang it outdoors for a short time and it will come back indoors fresh

Wool is a natural fibre - it repels dirt and odours
At the end of it's lifespan, it is biodegradable so will not harm the environment
