It was a beautiful spring morning in March 2021, the birds were chirping and the global pandemic lockdown measures seemed to be showing signs of easing. I began walking to the beach, something that had become an almost a daily routine over the past 6 months. Today was a particularly lucky day, I had stumbled across what appeared to be a large black sharks tooth. Questions began running through my head, what animal is it from, why is a big tooth on a beach in Kent, are there sharks in the water, could I find any more?! The list was endless.

Anyway, after some research I discovered it was a fossilised 'Sand Tiger' shark tooth, over 50 MILLION years old. My curiosity peaked - I was thrilled with this fossil. To top it off, it turned out that there was hundreds of species of sharks that used to exist on the U.K. coast through history and this beach spot was a hot-spot for 33-56 million year old fossils (known as the early Eocene period of time). It was going to be possible to find more.

Months go by and I keep collecting. I find many different species, including cow shark teeth, crocodile teeth, sea-turtle shell, chimaera shark jaw and much much more! I have always loved nature and science, because of the sheer fascination and wonder it can bring. Holding 50 million years old fossils made me imagine all the weird and wonderful creatures that roamed the Earth way before humans existed.

This fascination inspired me to create products that allow others to dive into the mystery and wonder that surrounds ancient fossils.
