I have to say that Jenny is the most conscientious seller I've ever met on Etsy. My order took a month to arrive through no fault if her own and she kept checking on it constantly. It's really quite an exquisite bandana, I wish that there were 2 snaps instead of 1 so the size could be adjusted. Once the shipping is more normalized again I'd definitely purchase again, I love all the patterns and they look great on my kitty.

Hand made kitty bandanas from Japan!

Hi! My name is Jenny, and I live with Momiji and Wasabi on the West coast of Japan. I'm originally from the UK and Hong Kong, but moved my life to Japan in 2015. I love Japanese culture and traditions, and am excited to be able to share these bandanas with you, designed around kimono - and incorporating many traditional Japanese features.

Each bandana I create is held together with red thread. This red thread represents "心" in Japanese, or "heart", "spirit" and "love" in English. You might not be able to see it all the time - or maybe you'll never notice it at all - but just know that it's there, woven into the very heart of your bandana, holding everything together from within ❤️

The bandanas are folded in the same, traditional style as kimono - left over right. This dates all the way back to the year 719, in Nara City! This is said to bring good fortune, and protect against bad luck. The bandanas are reversible - but even when you turn them round, they'll still close in the same way.

When pairing an obi (帯) and accessories with a kimono, special care is taken to make sure that the colours are complimentary - but also stand out and elevate the overall look. I try to do the same when I select the snap buttons and hemline threads, and bring the piece together as a whole.

Finally, as well as looking good - these bandanas are comfortable for your pets. The "U" shape design leaves ample room for them to move and play, and doesn't make them feel stressed or restricted in any way.

Care instructions

Please only spot-clean, or if necessary hand wash. All items are cotton, so machine washing on a cold cycle is also possible - however please bear in mind that the shape and colours may be affected.

Do not tumble-dry.

Iron-safe, but please do not iron over the snaps.

I want to order a few items, am I able to combine shipping costs?

Where are you located?

We live in Japan, about two and a half hours from Tokyo! All of the fabrics I use come from my local store and are 100% designed and made in Japan.
