The Story of MollyMac
The business started towards the end of 2009 and was the dream I'd had all my life. For many years I'd been teaching art and bringing up kids but I'd always made things and sold them on the side. Year after year I encouraged my students to be brave and get a creative career they would love and finally I listened to my own advice.
Quite early on I was picked up as one of Mary Portas' best hand made uk sellers (she's a retail guru in the UK) and I got a large order from a major high street retailer in London as a result. This was, of course, very flattering but the business at this time was in no position to meet the huge demand that followed so it was fun but short lived.
Since then I have been selling on line and in person when opportunities arose and wholesaling to small independent shops when appropriate.
My dream has been to design colourful products for people like you and to earn enough to keep going! There is no question how much I love what I do. I have also been really lucky as I have had people who have helped enormously as I was climbing that steep hill to run a successful creative business. No one more so than Jo who worked with me for about 12 of the 15 years as a designer and who has now moved on - obviously I miss her enormously. I am slowly making MollyMac my own again.
Hope you love what I do and you can find something to give or keep.
Best wishes,
Lisa
