Vintage Fabric & Gorgeous Things
I started collecting and making things with vintage fabric in about 1996 to decorate my children's bedrooms. I made pictures and bunting and since I didn't know how to use a sewing machine I did it all by hand. I went on to make cushions, patchwork quilts, lavender bags and more and I launched my business at the Country Living Fair in London where the editor Susy Smith bought two of my quilts for her twin girls.
I've sold to many shops over the years and am delighted to have supplied Cath Kidston with lavender hearts and cushions since 2008. I'd now like to sell directly to the public which is why I've opened my Etsy shop.
India Knight and Emma Freud are customers and Emma kindly said "Best Mini Vintage Bunting Ever Created, Nicky Grace is something of a Vintage Connosieur".
I love mixing fabrics and colours together so I do a lot of patchwork and even my mini bunting has bits of patchwork included.
I work from home in North London with my dog by my side and my teenage children coming and going which is hectic but lovely. I sometimes have an open house weekend where I turn my kitchen and living room into vintage heaven !
I was thrilled to have my home and products photographed for stylist Selina Lake's new book 'Pretty Pastel Style' which was published by rylandpeters in March 2013. It was a great honour and I love the book.
I'm completely self taught and vintage ice cream colours and fabric is my passion.
