Emily Jean fue un sueño durante mucho tiempo. Yo era uno de esos niños que siempre ponían el arte por encima de todas las demás áreas de aprendizaje e intereses y eso nunca cambió. Estudié Artes Visuales en la Universidad de Australia del Sur, especializándome en diseño de joyas y orfebrería y después de años de estudiar, trabajar como maestra de artes visuales y tener bebés, mi camino finalmente me llevó de regreso a lo que hace cantar a mi corazón, la creación de Emily Jean Designs.
Todo está hecho a mano directamente desde mi corazón hasta el tuyo en mi estudio casero en una estación de ovejas en Hawker, el centro de Flinders Ranges, donde estoy rodeado de inspiración infinita. Mis joyas son un divertido juego sobre la naturaleza y el mundo que nos rodea, creando mini mundos de luz y color y es fácil ver lo obsesionado que estoy con el color y la hermosa naturaleza táctil del vidrio.
Diseño para una facilidad de uso fácil y duradera para el día a día. Utilizo horno de alta calidad y vidrio de cal sódica, derritiendo diferentes combinaciones de virutas de vidrio de colores dentro de vidrio transparente y luego dándole forma directamente a los postes de los pendientes, las fianzas colgantes, lo que las convierte en un accesorio fuerte y permanente. Todo el vidrio se cuece correctamente recocido en horno (proceso de enfriamiento), lo que lo hace fuerte y duradero a pesar de ser vidrio, lo que lo hace mucho más mágico.
Viviendo en el campo y confiando en la tierra para la longevidad de nuestra estación de ovejas, ser consciente del medio ambiente es muy importante. Debido a esto, utilizo plata de ley 100% reciclada de alta calidad en mis diseños.
Emily Jean was a dream for a long time. I was one of those kids that always put Art first above all other learning areas and interests and that never changed. I studied Visual Arts at the University of South Australia, majoring in jewellery design and silversmithing and after years of studying, working as a visual arts teacher and having babies, my path finally lead me back to what makes my heart sing, the creation of Emily Jean Designs.
Everything is handmade straight from my heart to yours in my home studio on a sheep Station in Hawker, the hub of the Flinders Ranges, where I am surrounded by endless inspiration. My jewellery is a fun play on nature and the world around us, creating mini worlds of light and colour and its easy to see just how obsessed i am with colour and the beautiful tactile nature of glass.
I design for easy and long lasting wearability for day to day. I use high quality furnace and soda lime glass, melting different combinations of coloured glass chips inside clear glass and then shaping it directly onto earring posts, pendant bails, ect making them a strong and permanent fixture. All glass is then properly kiln annealed (cooling process) making it strong and durable despite it being glass which makes it just that much more magical.
Living in the country and relying on the land for the longevity of our sheep station, being eco-conscious is very important. Because of this I use all high quality 100% recycled sterling silver in my designs.
