It all started with the book ROSIE'S DAUGHTERS: The "First Woman To" Generation Tells Its Story. As we researched and wrote our award-winning collective memoir about women born during World War II, we discovered just how much these Rosie's Daughters built on the change ushered in by their mothers.

But our real interest in Rosie the Riveter began when we started going out and talking about the book. We thought it would be fun to wear Rosie's iconic red-and-white polka dot bandana. Funny thing. We couldn't find one...anywhere. Even the right fabric. So we made our own.

And when people started asking to buy ours...well, that's when Rosie's Legacy Gear was born.

Subsequently, we've become interested in what Rosie the Riveter means to women today. She is an icon of strength, independence, empowerment and that can-do spirit. For this reason, when we created our logo (the cartouche of Rosie the Riveter in silhouette) we created an addendum for "We Can Do It!" Our motto is: We Can Do It! Pass It On!

...and as time has passed, we added Victoria the Suffragist with her line of products to celebrate the 19th Amendment and women's right to vote.
