A southern succulent just trying to plant its roots.
Depuis l’école primaire, j’ai une passion pour la création. Le papier de construction, les ciseaux et la colle étaient un aliment de base en grandissant. J’aimais l’artisanat, le dessin, la peinture et j’ai toujours aimé essayer quelque chose de nouveau. À l’université, je me suis spécialisé en animation par ordinateur et j’ai suivi de nombreux cours de graphisme et de médias numériques. J’ai appris à développer ma créativité en utilisant les ordinateurs et la technologie et j’espérais trouver un moyen d’utiliser mes nouvelles connaissances pour faire carrière.
Pour l’obtention du diplôme, un membre de ma famille m’a fait un t-shirt pour un voyage que je faisais en utilisant du vinyle caloporteur qu’elle avait coupé à l’aide de son Cricut, et j’ai été tellement impressionné quand elle m’a dit tout ce qu’elle pouvait faire et faire avec sa machine à découper. Dès lors, j’ai su que c’était quelque chose que je voulais utiliser pour élargir mes horizons créatifs.
L’une des premières coupures que j’ai faites, c’était un autocollant de voiture pour ma mère. J’ai passé tout l’après-midi à concevoir un autocollant sur le thème de la plage qu’elle aimerait, et à partir du moment où je l’ai appliqué sur son véhicule, puis j’ai reculé pour le regarder - j’étais accro!
Lorsque j’ai démarré ma boutique Etsy, j’ai joué avec des noms de boutique et des titres uniques. Mon inspiration pour Southern Succulent Designs est venue d’une demande : « Si vous deviez vous décrire comme n’importe quelle plante, quelle serait-elle ? » Et j’ai choisi, une succulente. Premièrement, j’aime le désert et les cactus et toute l’ambiance, mais aussi, ils sont durs, ils aiment la chaleur, épineux à l’extérieur mais doux à l’intérieur, et en ce qui concerne les plantes, elles sont assez indépendantes. Et combiné à mon amour pour mon État d’origine, le Tennessee, le nom Southern Succulent est né.
Depuis le début initial d’environ 10 annonces et 15 couleurs de vinyle, je me suis développé dans une boutique de plus de 100 annonces avec plus de 30 choix de couleurs. D’un amour précoce pour l’artisanat, et à un désir de m’enraciner parmi des millions d’autres créateurs talentueux sur Etsy. Ma boutique est devenue quelque chose dont je peux être fier, et comme une succulente, je prévois de continuer à faire croître et à faire évoluer mon entreprise.
Since grade school, I have had a passion to create. Construction paper, scissors, and glue were a staple growing up. I loved crafting, drawing, painting, and always enjoyed trying something new. In college, I majored in Computer Animation and took lots of graphic design and digital media classes. I learned to expand my creativity using computers and technology and hoped to find a way to use my new knowledge to make a career.
For graduation, one of my family members made me a T-shirt for a trip I was going on using Heat Transfer Vinyl that she had cut using her Cricut, and I was so impressed when she told me all the things she could make and do with her cutting machine. From then on, I knew it was something that I wanted to use to expand my creative horizons.
One of the first cuts I did, was a car decal for my mother. I spent the whole afternoon, designing a beach-themed decal that she would like, and from the moment I applied it to her vehicle and then stepped back to look at it - I was hooked!
When starting my Etsy shop, I played around with shop names and unique titles. My inspiration for Southern Succulent Designs came from a prompt that "If you had to describe yourself as any plant, what would it be?" And I chose, a succulent. Number one, I love the desert & cacti and the whole vibe, but also, they're tough, they love the heat, prickly on the outside but soft on the inside, and as far as plants go they are fairly independent. And combined with my love for my home state of Tennessee, the name Southern Succulent was born.
From my initial start of around 10 listings and 15 vinyl colors, I have expanded into a shop of over 100 listings with over 30 color choices. From an early love for crafting, and to a desire to root myself among millions of other talented creators on Etsy. My shop has grown into something I can be proud of, and like a succulent, I plan to keep growing and evolving my business.
